Hi this is definitely normal. Has your fever subsided by the way? It could be mastitis and you may need to see a doc for antibiotics if the fever persists. It could be you have a blocked duct which was not cleared that's why it is engorged and causing the fever. You will have to clear any block duct by massaging especially the sides near to armpit is where blockage always occur. Feel for hard lumps and press it out. Hand express after latching or pumping to express out all the milk will be good to clear any blocked ducts. You can also get a massage lady or see a lactation consultant to help clear the blocked ducts. Once blocked and having infection or fever the milk supply will surely drop.

yup subsided but still got knots n soreness...supply still low...

Hi, Yes, it can affect the milk supply. Though, it should not happen in just one day of engorgement but a few cases it may happen. But if it has happened then you can use breast pump and it will help relieve the pain caused by engorgement. And after that continue with the normal feeding to the child. You can also take use moist hot pad on the breasts for a few minutes. Make sure, that you do not do it for prolonged period as it may worsen the swelling. Gentle massage also helps in breast relaxation. You must consult a doctor if you have fever higher than 101 as it may be a signal of breast infection.

thank u. my fever subsided but supply still v little. sigh..
