Is there any ways to increase twin pregnancy?

The chances of having twins is higher if the female partner is a twin herself OR her birth mother has given birth to twin. This has been proven true to my family. My ex-husband is a twin, but I gave birth to 1 son (I don't have twins in my family history at all) whereas my sister-in-law who isn't a twin, gave birth to twins
