Is it normal for my newborn to make noises while he's sleeping?

Yes. In fact, the amount of noise your newborn makes while he sleeps may surprise you! Your baby's sleep can be deep and still, and active and noisy all in one night. He may even make little jerking movements. This is known as the startle reflex (moro reflex) and it usually settles down at around two months to three months.
