At week 6, any spotting does need to be checked out properly, but it's not always an emergency. If the bleeding is light and you're not having bad cramps or dizziness, your gynae can usually see you urgently within a day or two and do a scan to check everything is okay. A&E is really for if it gets heavier, you're in a lot of pain, or you feel faint. Either way, don't wait more than a day though. Call your gynae clinic first and tell them about the spotting, they'll tell you whether to come in straightaway or head to A&E instead. Wishing you all the best.

Spotting at the first 12 weeks is normal as it may be from hormonal changes. It should NOT be like regular period, bleeding or unbearable pain. If it does, always seek medical help immediately. You can continue to monitor. If you are still worried, it would be better to consult a gynae for a peace of mind.

thanks so much!
