If your doctor asked for it, it probably means you’re a carrier. Testing your husband is important to predict the chance of your baby being a carrier or having thalassaemia major, which has major implications on baby’s life. If your husband is not a carrier, your baby will definitely not have the condition, so don’t worry and just have your husband tested first:)
Thalassaemia is a genetic blood disorder. It’s just a routine check to see if both parents has it.
