Which type of love
If you had to choose between true love (with guarantees of a broken heart) or no love at all, what would you choose and why?

I would have chosen option#1 some 12 years back when I was a hapless romantic who thought that love is enough. Today, whilst I think about love, it is more of a 'good to have' rather than a vital part of a person's life. I believe that good friendships are more important. I have seen happy couples in a marriage where there was less passion and more understanding.
