5 weeks pregnant

I thought I'm at week 6 based on my last period date but when I see the Gynae, she said its about 5 weeks. Did a virginal ultrasound and there's a York sac but that's all. Was prescripted Duphaston and a progesterone jab on the first visit and arranged another appt next week. Anyone experiencing the same thing ?

Hi mum, don't worry, seeing just the yolk sac at 5 weeks is actually quite normal, and your gynae is doing the right thing by monitoring you closely. The Duphaston and progesterone support the pregnancy in these early days, and honestly most mums I know who were in this situation had the fetal pole show up nicely by the follow-up scan a week or so later. The timing can shift a bit depending on when exactly you ovulated versus your last period date, so that's why your gynae adjusted the dates, it's more accurate that way. Just take it easy this week, keep your follow-up appointment, and try not to stress too much in the meantime, because a lot of the time it's just a matter of waiting a few more days for the baby to catch up in size. That said, definitely check in with your gynae if you have any bleeding or sharp pain, and do confirm with her at your next visit what the plan is if the fetal pole hasn't appeared, she'll know your full picture best.
