I pump at work in the day and I DL at night. I've been having a large lump on my right breast lately which my pump can't clear. only baby latching can clear it. I'm back at work today and pumping twice (once every 4 hours) and the lump is back. what should I do?

My friend also suggested massaging. Massage from the clogged area towards the mipple. She referred to this article for some tips on treating plugged duct: http://www.homeremediesweb.com/blocked-milk-duct-home-remedy.php According to the article, it is suggested that after massaging the breast with the lump, use the thumb and index finger to try to squeeze out the blockage. Start by placing the fingers at the outer edges of the areola, and then press down and squeeze the fingers inward toward the nipple. Be sure to have a towel or cup close by in case milk begins to flow or spray out.

Have you tried massaging the lump while pumping milk. If the only way to properly drain the lump is DLing your baby and you can't do that at work, try a few methods like massaging and placing a warm towel over that area when pumping. Don't let it be there for too long or it could turn into mastitis.
