8mths old food

I caught my mil feeding carrot cake (dim sum) to my 8 mth old lo. She insists at 8mths old they can eat everything including kfc mashed potatoes. She fed him ice cream before as well. Isit okay for babies below a year old to eat such food? I'm not sure what else she has been feeding my lo behind my back. I'm really worried and told her multiple times, no salt/oily food.

No sugar or salt below 1 year old is my policy so which means I either give mine homemade baby food or commercial baby food meant for appropriate age (I check the ingredients list) . I think what's really important is you have to educate her and make sure she doesn't feed honey to your baby unknowingly since it could be present in some food that she feeds baby, eg. Yogurt ice cream etc and that's dangerous as honey can cause death in babies below 1.
