The term ‘lo’

Hi, I been reading some comments and I noticed a lot of you used the term ‘lo’ and I’m assuming it’s referring to your new born baby. I have been trying to figure out what it stands for and it’s killing me not knowing. Anyone kind enough to tell me? Lawful offspring? Love? Lovely offspring? .....
