I've been to both and I love them! While they have similar traits on the surface - sun, sand, sea - here are some comparisons that might be useful in deciding which one to go to: Weather-Wise - Thailand’s monsoon storms are notorious and they can last for days, and at times, weeks. The heavy tropical showers are unforgiving and last all day and all night. Bad weather are also common on the fringes of high season, so planning a week of guaranteed sunshine in Phuket off-season, is always risky. Bali, on the other hand, has a rainy season between November and April, but there are surprisingly more days of sunshine than rain. Both times I was in Bali and Phuket, it was December. Bali was definitely more sunnier than Phuket. But both times, I didn't get to do water sports because the guides said that storms were approaching and it would be a bit dangerous to go helmet diving etc. But there are other things you can do like explore the island, eat or just laze around. Beaches - To me, Phuket's beaches wins hands down. They are much more pristine and cleaner to be honest. Bali's beaches seem to be littered with bottles and stuff. Food - Thai food versus Indonesian food. I'd say Thai food, especially their street food, all the way. I love how cheap and sinful food is in Phuket. Personally, I had more fun in Phuket. Thai hospitality is unrivalled in my view and with the gorgeous beaches, amazing food (high end and street variety), I would pick Phuket, maybe in April or May.

Both places are similar but personally prefer phuket more than bali. Try to get a hotel near the floating restaurants so that you can go have a unique dining experience.. For a more comfortable stay or if you are going with kids then can try staying at Movenpick Resort & Spa Karon Beach Phuket.. Very nice and relaxing with a lot of activities catered for the family. But most impt is plan it well so that you and your spouse can have a nice and relaxing holiday... Remember to take lots of pics too

I never get tired of Bali! Their beaches and villas make it a very romantic get away. Away from all the hustle and bustle of the city. If you do choose to go to Bali, you might want to consider getting a villa in Seminyak area, it is the most up and coming place in bali with the best beach bars and cafes. I would recommend Bali for sure.

I would go for Phuket. :) Better beaches, and food. Shopping is fun, too! Because stuff's more affordable there. The place also promises more possibilities in terms of activities: snorkeling, diving, kayaking, surfing, and romantic spa dates!

Why don't you try out a new beach resort - Montigo Resorts in Nongsa, Batam? It's a 30-minute ferry ride from Singapore. Their rooms/villas are breathtaking!
