Few weeks before you officially start work, explain to your toddler about work, routines of working people. (Even though he may not understand what you are trying to explain) Tell your toddler that when mummy goes to work, mummy is bringing money back for the family so mummy can bring you out to have fun and buy your favortive items. During your first day of work, give your toddler a big hug before work and say i will be back by what time. Once you got back home, communicate with your toddler. Check with them. How have they been at home. It's about communication. Do not show any fear or worries before leaving for work. Childrens are able to pick up adult's feeling very easily.

In general, it is about teaching your baby to be independent and self-reliant. You can do so by giving him or her autonomy in choosing what they want to wear, what toys to play with, what to eat etc. Also, always talk to your child about temporary separation. Explain the reason why you need to be away. Never sneak off without telling your baby that you are going away. In fact, I'm pretty sure I was the one having a tougher time leaving him than he had about me leaving for work.
