Generally a young baby of 1 month old who breastfeeds needs to nurse approximately 8 to 12 times in a 24 hour cycle, for about 10 to 15 minutes per breast. You might also want to consider that baby might go through a growth spurt and during these times, they are hungrier than usual. http://www.livestrong.com/article/510408-how-much-should-a-1-month-old-baby-be-eating/

Most of my friends are breastfeeding and feed on demand. As long as their babies are gaining weight, they are not too worried about the actual amount that their babies are consuming. As a gauge, 1 month old baby would feeding around 8-12 times a day and the number of feedings will decrease gradually as the interval in between feeds lengthens.
