This is a question that gets to the roots of our philosophy at Saturday Kids, which is to combine the computational thinking concepts of programming with the human-centered approach of design thinking. We never ask students to just start coding. We always give them a scenario they should solve for, whether for their own needs (coding a game they want to play) or for somebody else's needs (making a burglar alarm using littleBits).

Erm how about curbing his or her computer usage? Have a cap on the number of hours he uses on computers a day and make sure he takes a break. He could go out to play sports or simply have one on one time with you or his siblings. Alternatively, you can enrol him in a coding class. That way, he gets to interact with other people his age who have the same interests in coding like him :)
