How do I select a good gynae?

Every doctor has a different style, so what works for other mums might not work for you. I just went with the gynae who went to medical school with my mum :) That way I felt like I could bug him whenever I needed, and he turned out to be the sweetest and most gentle doctor I've ever seen. Do some homework before you pick your gynae: #1: You must be aware of your limitations. Prior to choosing a gynae, you should know your limitations. You need to know which doctor is being covered by your insurance carrier. You can ask from them a list of doctors who is covered by their policy. #2: Ask yourself. There are essential questions that you need to ask yourself such as: Which gynae do you prefer? Male or Female? Are you convenient in visiting your gynae? What are your qualifications for gynaes? Does he is involve in large practice or a sole practitioner? Which hospitals do you prefer and what are the privileges do they offer? #3: Investigate. After evaluating yourself on what you want to get from your gynae, you can finally go for investigation and make your own research on your choices. That way, you will be able to narrow down your list. #4: Interview. Schedule an appointment with the doctor and feel free to ask whatever you have in mind. Do not be ashamed to ask potential questions to your Ob/Gynecologist to be able to take advantage on the services you deserve.
Read more1. Do your homework. Ask your friends. Check for reviews online. 2. During your first appointment, make sure that your gynae share the same values as you. If you want a natural delivery, but your gynae is Pro-Csection, then you know he/she is not for you. 3. Is he/she a nice person? Are you comfortable with him/her? You will be parting your legs for him/her and speaking your inner secrets so you have to make sure that you are comfortable with your gynae. He/she should be professional, respectful, non-judgmental and a good listener. All the best in your search!

Another important factor is the way your gynae comes across when you visit him/her for the first time. If you feel that you have created a rapport with her immediately, go with your instinct and select her. That's what happened with me. It would also e better to chose a doctor from an established nursing home than to go to a fairly new establishment. Also chose a doctor that is close to your home and can be reached quickly in case of an emergency
Read moreI changed 3 gynaes during my first pregnancy. The first two gynaes always rushing through the consultation and one of them prescribed wrong medicine for me and luckily I found out before taking it. There are some points for you to consider when you are selecting your gynae: 1. Willing to answer all your queries patiently. 2. Pro-natural birth. You will know as gynae will not induce you or encourage you to go for c-section. 3. Very experienced in handling pregnancy complications. You can read up his/her bibliography and get friends/read online reviews.
Read more1. Do your research online. 2. Ask friends for recommendations - nothing like a mummy-recommended gynae to go along with. 3. Make sure your gynae is not too far from where you live or your office (wherever you will be travelling to meet him/her from, that is). 4. Observe him/her in your first meeting - he/she should be patient, answer all your questions and shouldn't make you feel rushed.
