What kind of issues do you face with helpers?

Hired a myanmar helper and been living with us for nearly a year. At first, she was quiet and hardworking, but now that she's into her job for about a year , she started giving attitude. Ask her something there's no response from her. Not even a yes or no. I have to ask about 2,3 times to get her answer. Even if there's a reply, she sounded very annoyed to answer my question. When I confront her, she'll claim she's fine, and that's her natural self. I've been very patient with her and told her that if she's unwell or wants to rest, just let me know. Sometimes I feel like am I too lenient with her? Was going to give her 1 month bonus after 1 year. Makes me feel like she doesn't deserve it at this rate. Do any mommies have any issues with helpers?

My Myanmar helper has been living with us for 9 months and she has started to show some attitude to my mother in law and baby. Of course, there are way more issues (SIGH). My husband and me talked to her on the issues many times repeatedly. She is more scared of me as I’m told by many people that I look fierce when I don’t smile. If she don’t answer me, i will ask her again “yes or no?” (not smiling) and she knows the limit. Sometimes I also do feel like I am too lenient and nice to my helper by buying her nice food etc so that’s why they dare to show attitude and climb over our head. Heard from a lot of people with helper experiences, it would be better to only give bonus after 2 years. Helpers usually take 1 year to only adapt into (most of) our expectations so another year is use to see if they deserve the bonus.
