Bacteria such as salmonella and listeria can be found in raw eggs and these may cause food poisoning and may even lead to miscarriage, still birth and respiratory infections or meningitis in the newborn. Therefore, it is best to opt for fully cooked egg to minimize the risk. The same bacteria can also be found in raw meat. So it is also advisable to avoid raw or partially-cooked meat such as sashimi, and medium-rare steak.
