Renal Agenesis in fetus

Oh gosh, first of all, sending you a big hug, this is such a hard situation to go through and it takes real courage to even ask this question. From what I've heard, it really does depend on whether it's unilateral (one kidney missing) or bilateral (both kidneys missing), because the outlook and options can be quite different, bilateral is generally much more serious since there's usually very little amniotic fluid, while babies with unilateral agenesis can sometimes do okay with the one remaining kidney compensating. A friend of mine who went through a termination for a serious fetal condition did go on to have a healthy pregnancy after, and her specialist made clear it wasn't necessarily a recurring thing, though of course it's worth doing proper genetic counselling to understand your specific situation better. What I've generally heard is that mums who terminated and tried again were advised to go through thorough pre-conception checks, and many did have healthy babies subsequently, so please don't lose hope! Do chat with a fetal medicine specialist or nephrologist who can give you the most accurate picture for your own case, they really are the best ones to guide you through this.

For me it was a sudden gush of warm water that can't go unnoticed. That was for my first pregnancy, dint have the same problem for my second one. So it doesn't mean that you will have the same problem in your next pregnancy
