Chinese Pregnancy Taboos

Hi, has anyone had any experience with moving between homes or setting up baby’s room while pregnant? I’ve heard from my relatives and older colleagues in office that it disrupts the baby’s spirit if you move home or renovate while pregnant. Advised best to stay put at ‘original’ home cos not sure if the new home’s qi is suitable for baby. I’m still waiting for my BTO and am currently staying at my parents’ and parents-in-law’s every alternate month. Technically it’s not a new home but it is moving between places every month. But then again what happens to those bubs conceived while on holiday??? Remain on holiday meh? Obviously we also need to make room for a nursery for when baby is out. But with all the taboos in place, it seems like my hands are tied. Anyone with any advice or similar experience??? Was your baby healthy?? #pregnancy #firsttimemom #pregnancytaboos #chinesesuperstitions

I would think that some of these old wives tale or superstitions stems from a place of safety. Renovations and house moving involve a lot of moving and lifting of heavy stuff, or exposure to chemicals or dust, so they're not advisable for pregnant women to be near. That aside, I did my room and cot set up before the baby was born, and he's fine. We wanted to settle these stuff before the kid comes, so we just carried on with it. Just be careful and ask your husband to do all the heavy lifting.
