Hi momies! Possible po ba na mag file ng Maternity Leave 2 months AFTER giving birth?

Government employee po ako (teacher), manganganak ako during summer break this year. Pwedi po ba 2 months AFTER manganak mag file ng Maternity Leave para mas mahaba ang time with baby po?

Hi mom! From what I know sa gov employees, maternity leave usually needs to be filed before or right after birth kasi it's tied sa actual delivery date, the 60 days (or 90 if complicated delivery) counts from when you gave birth, hindi from when you file, so filing 2 months after might not extend your leave period kundi ma-miss mo lang yung actual maternity benefits. Pero honestly, I'd suggest you ask your HR or the DepEd office directly about this kasi bawat agency may slight differences, at some teachers I know were able to arrange something special with their principals, so it's worth checking with your specific school admin too!
