Either is fine. Depending on u feeding once or twice a day(then I do both). Cereal and milk combination alrdy has the baby's needed calcium and iron levels so it's convenient. Especially if u are concerned if ur porridge is nutritious enough. If u put effort to vary and ensure most nutrients are taken in, porridge is enough since baby will still be taking milk on the side. Days when I have less time or run out of fresh meat/veg then I do cereal. When I have more time then I do porridge
Have your bubs started on solid feeding or this is his first time trying solids? For a start you can consider offering him rice cereal with milk. Slowly venture into porridge. for me, I go straight to porridge as my bubs rejected cereal. he only fully accepted porridge at around 11mos.
do you mean like those nestle rice cereal? You can try offering cereal as a breakfast. And porridge as a lunch meal for your baby! So that baby has a wide variety of food taste!
Either one is fine. I prefer giving homemade porridge.
