Pacifier to introduce or not?

FTM here. Should we introduce pacifier to newborn? What are the pros and cons? He is a week old and has started crying every hour. He seems to be hungry as he moves his mouth but we are thinking that he is drinking a bit too much and wonder if pacifier will help to soothe him? But yet not sure if it’s a good time to introduce and whether he will be too dependent on it
