Is Car necessary?

Hi first time parent here. My wife is expecting and we are unsure if it’s necessary to get a car. Appreciate if you can share your experience.

not necessary if your house is well connected with public transport nearby. my kid is almost 2 and we don’t have a car. it’s added financial stress, but if you can afford it then it’s a good bonus i guess.
