Bleeding at 5–6 Weeks Pregnant — What Was Your Experience at the Doctor?

Hi everyone. I’m wondering if anyone has experience with repeated bleeding during very early pregnancy, around 5 or 6 weeks. Every time I’ve had bleeding, I’ve gone to the doctor, and I’ve been to three different places. Each time, they’ve done the same things: hCG blood tests and a transvaginal ultrasound, then sent me home. Gave me Dhupaston too. I understand that at 5 or 6 weeks it may be too early to see much on an ultrasound, and I know there may not always be much that can be done immediately. But I’m wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and whether their doctor did anything else or investigated further, especially when the bleeding kept happening. To be honest, it’s also becoming really tiring having to keep going to the hospital every time this happens, especially with the long waiting times. I have a toddler, and I’m living alone most of the time, so it can be really difficult to spend hours at the hospital each time, only to have the same tests done and then be sent home. I’m not saying I don’t want to get checked. I just want to understand whether there are any other things doctors can do or check for repeated bleeding this early on, and what other people’s experiences have been. What did your doctor do, and was there anything else they were able to check or monitor besides hCG and a transvaginal ultrasound? I’d really appreciate hearing about other people’s experiences.

Sayang, ini memang tough situation, especially with a toddler and going through this alone. A few of my mum friends who went through early bleeding said the same thing, lots of back-and-forth appointments with similar tests, which is exhausting. The thing is, at 5-6 weeks it's really a waiting game because the ultrasound findings change so quickly day-to-day, so sometimes the doctors really are just monitoring rather than finding something new each time. But if you're worried the bleeding is worsening or if you have severe pain, do go to A&E straightaway, jangan tahan. Since you've already seen three different doctors and got the same tests, mungkin next time try asking your doctor specifically: Are there any other signs or tests you'd recommend if the bleeding continues? or What symptoms should make me come back immediately vs. waiting for the next appointment? This might help you avoid unnecessary trips while staying safe. Some moms found it helpful to keep a simple log (date, amount, any pain) to show the doctor too, sometimes patterns help them decide on next steps. I know it's scary and tiring, but you're doing the right thing getting checked each time. Hang in there, mama.

I have same situation when my first born was in first trimester. First, mommy need to check the bleeding pattern. When the blood show the most? Is it after doing hard work or it is after sitting too long. Then, check the frequency. Is it coming at two/three days per cycle? Then, note also the colour. If is it bright red, then it is fresh blood. So might be related to womb. If dark, it might be the blood already hemolysis. After that, ask your clinic doctor first. If it is dangerous pattern/frequency /colour, they might suggest you to bed rest. And bed rest is really helping. Put your leg up during lay down. Eat also your Dhuspaston, it will help to reduce vagina contractions.

The only investigation doctor did for me was to check for polyps. Since no polyps, I was given duphaston. After that, still got spotting, doctor asked to increase duphaston dosage. Doctor cannot do anything beyond this. You have to try to rest more. But i know it's easier said than done with a toddler at home. I took MC and had bed rest before the spotting eventually stopped.
