Both options have their merits, so it really depends on how much you plan to use the stroller day-to-day versus just needing something for the car. A travel system is really convenient because the infant carrier clicks straight from car to stroller without waking baby, but it does mean you will need to buy a new car seat once the infant carrier is outgrown, usually around 12 to 15 kg. A convertible car seat that grows with the child is more cost-effective long term and can last till they are much older, but you will need a separate stroller for outings. If you drive a lot and also walk around malls or parks regularly, a travel system might be worth the investment early on, but if the stroller will mostly stay in the boot, a good convertible seat plus a lightweight umbrella stroller later might make more sense lah.
