Congratulations, mama! Mixed emotions are totally normal, I felt the same way when I found out about my second! Okay, so honestly, 5 years is actually better than closer spacing after a C-section, which is what most doctors prefer. A lot of mums I know who had their second or third within 2-3 years had to be monitored extra closely because the scar tissue was still healing. Your uterus has had plenty of time to recover, which is a big plus. The trade-off though, and a few mums have mentioned this, is that some studies show there's a slightly higher risk of preeclampsia when the gap gets really long, but we're talking about being extra vigilant with your check-ups, not a dealbreaker. The good news is your first is already 5 years old, so she can understand things better, help out a bit, and you're not juggling two tiny ones at once. That's actually pretty manageable compared to back-to-back pregnancies. Definitely sit down with your OB though and go through your CS scar history with them, they know your specific case best and can tell you what to watch out for this time around. Pero overall, this spacing is solid, and maraming mums have thriving second pregnancies after the same gap. You've got this!
