Aspirin for preeclampsia

EDD August: 14w2d Any mummies taking aspirin due to having the risk of preeclampsia? I was prescribed aspirin and will have to consume it till 34 weeks. Kinda scared thinking of the risk. Any advice from mummies that took aspirin and have given birth? Did it help?

Hi mama! I took aspirin from w13 to w36, wasn't diagnosed with pre-eclampsia in the end and every blood pressure check at gynae appt had been normal. I gave birth to a healthy 3.0kg baby at w38 via c section because breech 🤣🤣 baby refused to turn. Baby is almost 9 months now and 75 percentile height and weight 👌 As the other moms have shared this is for preventive measure, my gynae explained to me that it's because the moment you are officially diagnosed with pre-eclampsia, aspirin is no longer a viable option and pre-eclampsia is usually eased from giving birth (which leads to risk of premature birth). So it's better to be safe since low dosage aspirin is safe for pregnancy If you'd like, can ask doc what is the normal range for blood pressure, and I measured once in a while at home because my parents have the Omron machine haha So just take it consistently and keep up with your vitamins and eat healthily!! :) all the best!!

Yaaa honestly I freaked out at first because it was my first pregnancy and then I spent the next 3 hours reading research papers on whether aspirin has any side effects 🫠 in the end everything was well and I don't take that for granted Trust your gynae and stay optimistic! 🤍 wishing you all the best and that the little one continues to grow big and strong!
