Do I need to buy baby hats for a newborn?

Hats for newborns were previously believed to help keep the infant warm after birth. However, studies seemed to suggest that there is little or no help from the hats. More importantly, skin-to-skin contact is what that will help regulate the baby’s body temperature. Two other reasons why a baby hat is not needed are: 1. The newborn baby scent will aid in bonding between mother and baby. Without the hat, there is no fabric scent to obscure that newborn baby smell. 2. When the mother inhale the smell of her baby’s head, it trigger a rush of a “mothering hormone”, Oxytocin. This hormone causes the uterus to contracts shearing the placenta from the wall of the uterus and forcing an instant constriction of the blood vessels that were running to the placenta. This provides a safe and effective third stage of labour for the mother. I bought two as thought needed at the hospital. DS didn't like it at all, wore it for a total of 2 min :)

My nurse scold me for wore my baby a hat because it will overheat him that will cause to high jaundice.

Not so necessary if you have at least 2 thats useful enough..
