If a pregnancy is post-term, that is, you’ve reached 42 weeks or your health or your baby’s is at risk, your doctor may determine that it’s time to start labour contractions using medications or other methods. My friend was a week overdue and thought that she was going to be pregnant forever but since her pregnancy was a healthy one, she had to wait another week before induction could begin (it's actually a Swedish medical law). She gave birth successfully, with no complications.
You can discuss induction with your doctor after you have past 41 weeks. My friend had hers 6 days past the due date. She was given a total of two pills (inserted via her vagina) and gave birth a few hours after the second pill was administered.
Once you have reached 40 weeks. There are studies that shown that Indian women (even those living abroad) are more susceptible to a late stage overdue stillbirth due to the way of placentas are. So I would not go past my due date
thanks
Once you are 40 weeks and labor is not forthcoming
