Are milking bombs really increase mums' breasmilk?

@polar mummy77, you can try this recipe for milking bombs: Ingredients: 3 cups old-fashioned rolled oats 1 1/2 cups unbleached organic all-purpose flour 5 tablespoons brewers yeast 3 tablespoons ground flaxseed 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/4 teaspoon salt 12 tablespoons organic unsalted butter 4 tablespoons unrefined organic virgin coconut oil 1 1/2 cups organic cane sugar 1 large egg + 1 large egg yolk 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 1 1/2 cups dark chocolate chips/chunks *feel free to add: unsweetened flaked coconut, chopped almonds, 1 to 2 tablespoons of almond butter Directions: - Preheat the oven the 350 degrees F. - In a large bowl, whisk together the oats, flour, yeast, flaxseed, baking powder, soda, cinnamon and salt. - In the bowl of your electric mixer, beat the butter and coconut oil on medium speed until creamy. Add in the sugar and beat on medium to high speed until fluffy, about 4 to 5 minutes, scraping down the sides of the bowl if needed. Add in the egg and egg yolk, beating until combined, about 2 to 3 minutes. Add in the vanilla extract and beat until combined again. Gradually add in the dry ingredients, beating on low speed until just combined and mixed. Stir in the chocolate chips with a spatula until they are evenly dispersed. - Scoop the dough into 1-inch rounds (I use an ice cream scoop so they are fairly uniform in size) and place on a baking sheet about 2 inches apart. Bake for 10 to 14 minutes, or until the bottoms are just golden. Let cool completely before storing in a sealed container. Taken from: http://www.howsweeteats.com/2015/02/lactation-cookies/
Read moreHere is one recipe that I used back then when I was breastfeeding. I find that lactation cookies or milking bombs helped me abit in boosting my milk supply. I was a low supply mum and these cookies killed two birds with one stone, it being a yummy snack and a milk bomb at the same time! However, do drink lots of water too as they can be quite heaty. Ingredients: 3 cups of steel cut/ old fashioned oatmeal 2 cups of all-purpose flour 1 and 1/2 cups of brown sugar 1 cup of chocolate chips (I prefer the milk chocolate morsels) 1 cup of butter (I prefer salted) 4 table spoons of water 2-4 tablespoons of Brewers Yeast (be generous) 2 tablespoons of Flaxseed Meal 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract 1 teaspoon of salt 1 teaspoon of cinnamon 1 teaspoon of baking soda IMPORTANT! Do not substitute the brewers yeast… that’s the ingredient which makes them work. Method: Preparation time is around 15-20 minutes. Preheat the oven to 350F. 1) Mix together 2 tablespoons of flaxseed meal and water, set aside for 3-5 minutes. 2) Cream (beat well) butter and brown sugar. Add eggs one at a time, mix well. 3) Stir flaxseed mixture and add with vanilla to the butter mix. Beat until blended. 4) Sift together dry ingredients, except oats and chips. 5) Add to butter mixture. Stir in oats then chips. 6) Scoop or drop onto baking sheet. The dough is a little crumbly, it might be easier if you use a scoop- I just use a spoon- no need to get too fancy. Bake for 8-12 minutes, depending on size of cookies. Makes approximately 6 dozen cookies. Hope it works for your wife!

For me personally, I really low supply of breastmilk even though I was pumping every 2 hours if not latching (or at least attempt to). A friend suggested to give these cookies a try because she noticed that there was an increase of supply for her. I bought the cookies at the link below and they were delivered quite promptly. I found it hard and quite tasteless. In fact, I hated it. I finished up one packet and still had no increase in my supply so I ended up giving them away. http://www.mummysmarket.com.sg/deal/freshly-baked-cookie4milk-lactation-cookies-4-packets-free-delivery Like what other mummies have mentioned, the main ingredients are oats and fenugreek but if these don't work for you, you can drink other methods. My aunty taught me to put a warm towel on my boobs before feedings, and I also had warm milo and cheesecake.. although too much of it would probably be unhealthy lol
Read moreMilking bombs, or known as lactation cookies where the main ingredient is made from Oats. Oats is very nutritious and known to increase milk supply. For me, I took 2-3 lactation cookies daily and didn't see much improvement on the milk supply. How did I get more supply was mainly from latching my baby more often and drink more hot soup/beverages. I think if depend solely on lactation cookies it will not help in increasing milk supply. It's a combination of frequency of pumping/latching, well rested, enough sleep, eat healthy and balanced diets.
Read moreThe main ingredients in milking bombs or lactation cookies are rolled oats, fenugreek seeds and brewer's yeast. They are also combined with other galactalogues such as dates, longans, chia seeds and other nuts. Rather than depending on cookies, I believe it's better to consume the galactalogues in your diet to see a better effect. http://www.drmomma.org/2010/08/lactation-cookies-recipe-increasing.html
