Ah, don't worry too much, a few of us in my mum group have actually been through this same thing, and most of our babies turned out perfectly fine! The injection is really meant to help baby's lungs be ready, especially when delivery is happening a bit earlier than 40 weeks, so the doctors are just being careful with you. My friend who delivered at KKH at around 36 weeks had the same dexamethasone jab and said the paediatrician there explained that the behavioural concerns people worry about are mostly linked to repeated courses or very long-term use, not a single-course jab like what most of us got. Some mums did mention they heard about possible risks, but the general understanding from our circle is that one course given for a medically necessary reason is considered quite standard and the benefit to baby's lungs far outweighs the risk. That said, since every pregnancy is different, it's really worth having a good chat with your OB or a neonatologist to address your specific concerns, they can give you a much clearer picture based on your own situation!
