GDM, Baby weighing ahead

Anyone going through the same? I’m currently 31 weeks. Baby is weighing 2 weeks ahead from last scan, at est. 2.2kg. I have gdm, and I’m seeing gynae at STOCK KKH for my hypothyroidism. My levels for thyroid have been in good ranges throughout. My gdm levels elevated after meals, on diet control. Baby has been a little heavy lately, it’s hurting to walk due to the pelvic girdle pains, groin and inner thigh pain. Idk if it’s correlated to the bigger percentile. I am worried, because some gynaes are just not empathetic enough to pregnant mums. Not my 1st, this is my 3rd. If my memories serve me right, both my earlier babies were also measuring ahead, delivered naturally at 2.7kg and 2.8kg, both girls. How worried should I be? Next scan will in at 34 weeks.

Hey, I think you can actually relax a bit here, measuring ahead doesn't automatically mean GDM trouble, and honestly, your history is quite reassuring. Both your earlier babies came out bigger and you delivered naturally both times, so your body clearly handles this well. Some mums carry more amniotic fluid or just make bigger babies naturally, and especially since your thyroid levels have been stable and you're managing your GDM through diet, that's actually a good sign you're on top of it. The pelvic girdle pain is real and uncomfortable, but it's usually just about the extra weight and hormones loosening your ligaments, not necessarily linked to how much baby weighs. My neighbour had similar pain in her third pregnancy and it settled down once she got through that phase; a good pelvic physio or even just supportive pregnancy belt made a difference for her. By 34 weeks your scan will give you a clearer picture anyway, and at that point your gynae can chat through whether anything needs adjusting for delivery. Given your track record and that you're managing GDM well, I'd say just keep doing what you're doing rather than worry too much. That said, definitely bring up the pelvic pain with your doctor at KKH, they should be able to give you some proper support, and a good gynae will take that seriously.

Thank you for responding. It is comforting to read this than getting stress over something that’s still uncertain.
