Is it alright to do gel manicure and gel pedicure during pregnancy?

I did gel mani-pedis throughout my pregnancy and felt fine, but honestly the fumes can be a bit much when you're pregnant so I always made sure the salon had good ventilation and didn't go too often. Most doctors say it's okay as long as the place is well-ventilated and you're not inhaling the fumes directly, so might be worth asking your gynae just to be safe if you're worried about it. At the end of the day it's such a small thing to pamper yourself with during pregnancy, so if you're comfortable with it and the salon is clean and airy, go ahead and treat yourself.

Personally I still did my regular manicure/pedicure during pregnancy, but I tried not to do it too often. My gynae was generally okay with it, but I preferred places with good ventilation because of the chemical smell. For gel nails, I also tried to minimise unnecessary exposure to the chemicals and UV lamp used for curing. Probably okay once in a while, but I wouldn’t do it very frequently. If you’re concerned, maybe can ask the salon if they have gentler or pregnancy-friendly options. 😊 Best to check with your gynae too if you have any specific concerns!
