Based on what I’ve researched, car seats are usually from birth till 1.5-2 years old and 2 years and up because of the difference growing up. When infant, they can’t sit up, so usually it’s like a basket for them to sit up. However around 1.5 years old they start to want to look around, so it’s the upright type that you can use until they’re 4-5 years old. Older than 5, I think can use booster seats it’s just to prop them up to make sure they reach a certain height for the seat belts to hold them tight.
