HL at KKH (Private)

Hi mommies! I'm 33 weeks + 6 days now and I'm so tired all the time but can't sleep either. I dread going to work now because of travelling and I can't sit for long hours straight. I'm on iron pills due to low blood count since I was 28 weeks and I oftentimes blackout. Do you all think if I request HL, it will be given? | heard public hospitals are not so generous in giving out HL. Please do help me out. Thank you in advance! #1stimemom #needadviceplease

Aww mama, at 33+ weeks and dealing with low blood count plus blackouts, that sounds really tough. ❤️ Honestly, nobody here can guarantee whether your doctor will give HL, but I think it's worth bringing up at your next appointment. Don't just tell them you're tired - be very specific about the blackouts, difficulty sitting for long periods, commuting challenges, and how it's affecting your daily functioning. Those are important symptoms for your doctor to assess. In my experience, doctors at public hospitals aren't necessarily "stingy" with HL. They generally base it on your medical condition and whether they feel working is affecting your health or pregnancy. If you're blacking out, that's definitely something they should know about. Please don't struggle through it in silence. If you're feeling this unwell, have an honest conversation with your OB and let them decide what's safest for you and baby. Take care, mama. Subsidised kkh to TMC

Hi, I’ve yet to make any appointment for my current pregnancy but was wondering has anyone switched from KKH subsidised to TMC? My first was at TMC and I really love it but that was years back. It was quite pricey so I’m exploring options is going to kkh subsidized first then TMC would save abit cost? Anyone did it before? Yes. Best to do all the necessary checkups and test done under subsidized then change to private. I changed to private at 35w

Hand foot mouth disease

hi mummies my Lo Is currently down with a Hand foot mouth disease from school , baby has been crying in the middle of the night due to uncomfortable mouth sores , currently on day 5 of HFMD. does any mummies know any relief for the mouth sores or ways that can heal faster? #needadviceplease

Ah, HFMD is really tough on the little ones, especially with the mouth sores keeping them up at night. My friend's kid had it last year and she found that cool foods like ice cream, yoghurt and smoothies helped ease the pain a bit, plus she gave paracetamol before bedtime so her son could sleep better. I'd definitely check in with your PD to see if there's anything else they can suggest for faster healing or if there's a mouth gel that might help with the sores. The good news is most kids bounce back within a week or so, so hang in there.

Hello mommies. I'm expecting my 2nd baby and have thought of cutting my fallopian tube once i give birth next year. I just can't handle the daily all day morning sickness i am having and i had, throughout my 15 weeks of pregnancy. I can't even enjoy foods. It's pretty stressfull. 😭 #needadviceplease

I totally understand how tough severe morning sickness is, 15 weeks of that sounds exhausting, and it's natural to feel overwhelmed right now. That said, this is such a big decision that I'd really encourage you to discuss it properly with your gynae, maybe after you've recovered from this pregnancy and can think more clearly, because hormones and exhaustion can make everything feel more permanent than it is in the moment. Some mums find their sickness eases significantly in the third trimester or after delivery, and a few years down the line your feelings about family size might shift too. For now, focus on getting through these weeks, talk to your PD or KKH if the sickness is affecting your nutrition, because there are ways to manage it better. You've got this, and decisions like these don't have to be made in the thick of it.
