How can we teach children to accept failures?

Regarding failure, children take their cues from their parent's reactions. Here are three steps. The first step is to acknowledge the situation. Don't brush their experience or situation aside and say something like "Oh its such a small thing" or that it doesn't matter. Acknowledge their emotions. Step 2. Analyse. Ask them what they could change to make the next attempt more successful. You could give some suggestions here. Step 3. Action. Agree on what you can start doing in very practical ways to work on the plan. For example you could change the daily schedule so that the child has more time to practice or to lessen the load on something else. At this stage give encouragement to the child and say that if the changes are made, you would be confident that he will improve. Remember the 3 "A"s. Acknowledge, Analyse, Action. Importantly ensure that he knows that your acceptance and love is not tied to his performance.
