General changing diaper guideline

Hi all! What are some of the guidelines for changing of diapers when baby urine or poops? Do you do it immediately after smelling it? Or do it immediately after that poop sound? Or wait for 5 mins then change? Or only change when baby cries? What are your practices?

If it is poop, I’ll wait awhile and once I observe the facial expression stop pooping, I’ll change. Otherwise if wait too long, if poop dry up it’d be difficult to clean as it’d stick to baby’s skin. If it is pee, I’ll change only when it’s full or if baby cries cos they hate the damp feeling.
