Avg cost of ballet class

Would like to check how much does a ballet class usually costs for toddler 3 years old and whether toddler needs to be toilet trained? Thanks!

Expect to pay roughly $65/month for one 45-minute class per week at the beginner level, that's pretty standard for 3-year-olds here. Someone in my mum group mentioned you can do a $10 trial first at some centres like those based in Woodleigh Mall or Fernvale CC, which is great before committing. On the toilet training question, most studios for that age group are quite understanding, but worth checking directly with the school when you enquire!

Hi mummies, I wish to put my little one here and was wondering if anyone can share their experiences with the centre, teachers etc?

The feedback I've heard about this centre is generally positive, teachers are described as young, energetic, and very engaging, and even the admin staff are friendly and approachable. My friend enrolled her daughter there and mentioned the child adapted really well, even eating better at school than at home, which says a lot about how comfortable the environment is. Overall seems like a solid choice for Jurong West!

Rather than make up reviews, I'd suggest asking directly at the centre for a trial visit, or checking with other parents at the void deck or playground nearby who actually have kids there, that's usually the most reliable way to get a real feel for 18-month-old intake.

Cough home remedy

Hello mommies, my toddler cough and runny nose very easily and very frequently. She attends play group, every time she went back school for a week, she came back with above conditions. Most of the paeds dont recommend cough syrup coz she’s still young. She took fish oil supplement every morning. Is there any home remedy ? I’m starting on honey lemon warm water. Thank u so much in advance !

Honey warm water is a good start, my friend's daughter had the same issue and she also added a small slice of ginger to the warm honey drink and found it helped soothe the throat quite a bit. Might also be worth mentioning to your PD how frequently she's falling sick, just to rule out anything else going on.

Boy have not started talking

My boy have been sucking his pacifier 24/7 except during his meals and because of that he didnt babble much.. Its been a week now that i confiscate his pacifier and only give him when he throw tantrum.. so he’s very loud now (happy mummy) but he have not start saying mummy daddy or anything.. He understand instruction very well.. should i been worry or he will start talking soon? He just turned 17 months old in march. Anyway tips how to boost or make him pronounce some words?

Blinking of eyes excessively.

Hi mommies, anyone of your toddler blinking/squinting their eyes excessively? Been for 4 days and still the same. Went to see a dr today but dr say his eyesight all ok and write a referral letter for him to visit kkh for a thorough check up. He seldom have screen time now. Please advise. Thank you.

Good that you already got the referral, just go for the KKH appointment, don't wait. My neighbour brought her son there for something similar and the paediatric ophthalmologist was thorough, checked for everything from early myopia to allergies to muscle issues, so you'll get a much clearer picture than a GP can give. Some mums I know found it was just allergies causing the squinting, but a couple had kids who turned out to need glasses earlier than expected, so it's really worth ruling everything out properly. Definitely follow through with the specialist rather than leaving it, four days of persistent blinking is worth a proper eye check.

Parents with children who are close in age gap

Hi I have 2 kids who are 2.5 years apart. I realised the baby toys that my elder liked before and could really figure how to play(not those battery toys). However my younger one doesn't seem to take interest in the same baby toys as her elder brother. Only some baby toys they liked the same (elder fav toys when he is baby) and some no. My concern is I'm still keeping the baby toys that younger one doesn't seems to take much interest in but to me I want her to learn and practise her fine motor skills playing the toys. She is 24 months old now and I realised if she likes the toy she will figure and know how to play. But when she doesn't like the toy, no matter how I rotate the toys since 1 years old, she still doesn't show much interest. I'm trying to clear baby toys already so I'm also quite hesitant until she is able to practise the fine motor skills for that toy, for example turning the knob etc. Thing is my elder one can turn the knob when he is 16 months old and I know different babies grow at their own pace. My 24 months old can sort colours, knows body parts, ABC, can match picture to picture, play pretend feeding animals etc but I'm still waiting for her to turn the knob and match the shape sorter toy. Do you think I should just give away the baby toys or continue to wait it out? She already seems uninterested I kept bringing out and keeping the same old toys. 😅I just want her to learn and practise new fine motor skills! Anyone encounter same situation as me? Also cause I wanna declutter 😅

Aiyoh I totally understand this feeling lah, because my two are also about 2 years apart and I went through the exact same thing, my elder one was so into his shape sorter at 15 months but my younger one just kept throwing it aside no matter how many times I brought it out, and I was lowkey stressing myself out over it! My neighbour actually brought her daughter to see a paediatric OT for a separate matter, and the OT mentioned that at 24 months, if a child can already sort colours, do pretend play, and match pictures, her fine motor foundation is actually quite solid, the specific skill like turning knobs will come when she's ready, no need to force through a toy she doesn't enjoy. Someone in my mum WhatsApp group also said her second child only really practised fine motor through things she genuinely loved, like pouring water during bath time or helping to peel stickers, so the "toy" doesn't always have to be the toy itself lah! My friend also shared that her OT friend told her to just follow the child's interest and build fine motor skills around that, like if your girl loves animals, maybe threading or puzzle toys with animals might click better than the same knob toy her brother liked. So honestly I think you can go ahead and declutter those toys she's been ignoring, don't worry, she's clearly thriving and will get there in her own sweet way!
