my parental abilities

I keep on having doubts about my parental abilities and can't somehow talk to my wife about it. She is 7 weeks pregnant and now I am starting to worry. Any suggestions?

What are your biggest concerns?

I have lost total freedom after having our baby. My wife makes sure I get home as soon as work is over - I have lost my time with my colleagues after work, friends and even relatives. I feel trapped. What can I do?

A baby does change everything. What worked for us was having a routine for the baby. So our son now goes to bed by 7-7.30pm, so we make sure we're home to see him to bed. But after he's asleep, we have the evening free - to spend time with each other or meet friends/ family for dinner etc. Work after drinks might be tough but it doesnt mean your social life is dead. If one of us is tied up and cant be home at 6pm-ish, then we make sure the other parent is home early to put him to bed. It requires a bit of coordinating and some compromise but it comes together eventually!

I'm a dad of a one year old. I'm struggling to find time to make plans with others. And to be there for my baby at the same time. How do you manage being a good dad and make time for others and for yourself?

Are your friends daddies too? If they are, you can have a daddy-date group like the one I saw in that movie, "What to expect when you're expecting". This group of dads meet up with their kids for playdates and it's a strictly no mommy zone/time and they get to share their secrets, problems and whatever happens in the group stays in the group. Today my 12-year-old son asked me how much daddy makes. How do I have this convo with him? How much do I disclose?

Whenever kids ask difficult questions, it's helpful to throw the question back to understand where the curiosity is coming from. Ask him why he asked that so you can approach the answer better.

My hubby and I go exercising 2 a week. We find time to spend time with them the next day. I do planks , crunches at home, to target core and upper and for now.

My 4 yrs old boy is highly manipulative and plays favorites with mom and dad. Is this normal child behavior!

I think it's normal haha! I've seen this behaviour alot with my niece and nephew. It's their way of testing boundaries with both parents - see who is good cop and who is bad cop. As long as your son doesn't continue with the behaviour as he grows older in the malicious or negative sense, it's nothing to be to in worried about :)

I'm a father ..I have the cutest daughter who turned a year old.. While Im happy with the perfect family, I am unable to fit in as a perfect dad... I feel my individuality is lost, Its all about my wife and child now.. I feel restrained in many ways and immature as I can't handle most things; People look at me as a responsible father and husband and the word responsible creeps me out... Is this feeling normal? How do I battle this?
