Vaccine and breastfeeding

Hi mummies, are you guys intending to take vaccine and continue to breastfeed your baby?? If yes how old is your LO and which vaccine are you intending to take/ took?

took my 1st dose and continued bf my 17mo bby. but haha now big problem, just found out i might be preggy 😅

May I know if I have a lump or feeling not emptied is it due to blocked duct? Whenever I hand express after pumping out milk I can feel lump on the side of my breasts.

Yes it’s probably the case that your breast is not fully empty. Try using a pump instead of hand express?

Baby suddenly stopped latching

My 6mo suddenly stops latching. She refused to latch. But she's drinking bottle very well. I shouldn't be complaining but it makes me sad that i cant bond with my baby this way. Any ideas why or how to encourage her to latch on again?

My friend had this issue.. she used a nipple shield for few days,

Milk sprays while pumping

Question: Am I supposed to see many sprays inside the flange as I pump? Cos I only see one spray, for maybe a minute max, then it will just be droplets slowly dripping and accumulating before flowing down to the valve. Am I not pumping correctly? Am FTM new to pumping, did csect 3 weeks ago. I use Spectra S1 pump, and I usually do Cycle 1, suction level 2 to 4, for 15 to 20 mins. Is this correct, or what will you suggest?

It’s normal. Your body is slowly producing milk. If you let your baby latch on, your body will produce more milk as the time goes by. It’s the same as pumping. The milk production will increase as the time goes by. Suction level is to your own comfort. If you are okay with the suction level then it’s ok. Do remember to massage your breast first before pumping or latching on.

Hi! Just wondering if I can put off buying the S1 parts until the lactation consultation during delivery? Cuz I’m not too sure about my flange size and wouldn’t want to waste money & getting the wrong one 😓 #1stimemom #advicepls

Same here. I heard from my frens and relative that they only latch in the beginning.. so i didnt bother to check yet. Even that time i check with the person at mummy market.. she also said ask my lactation one to advise when i deliver..

Im 3 days PP tdy. Been exclusively breastfeeding since day 1. And so far, so good.. despite the every hourly demand latching, Baby has been latching well. Till both my nipples super sore and "torn". I do apply the nipple cream as and when i can but because my baby might even latch every 30mins-60mins, my nipples couldnt heal properly and thus resulted in more pain. Yesterday i realised, my both boobs gettimg engorged eventho i latch my baby often and for long each time. The engorgement doesnt seems to subside.. i wonder why.. is baby not drinking at all or...? Every 10-15mins she ask to be latched. With the pain getting even more painful, i had to feed my baby formula. My 3yrs old formula milk bcos i hadnt had the chance to buy a newborn formula yet. I feel guilty. What will happen if a newborn drinks a 3yrs old fomula milk? This is the first time i had to do this. My nipple pain is soo unbearable and baby was fussing, crying non stop asking for milk. And, what can i do now? With this nipple pain (cracked nipples) and both boobs engorgement... Pls pls advise! Urgently need help!

Hey, suggest u to pump for now instead n yes apply nipple cream as n when u need. Pumping with the right flange size will really help your sore nipples to heal, lay off on the latching for awhile n also maybe try to figure out if her latch isn’t proper. My girl couldn’t latch properly as well n I thought it was okay but on day 3 I couldn’t stand the pain anymore n she was getting so frustrated so I pumped instead, only blood came out with abit of colostrum :( but within few hours I feel so much better n have been pumping ever since

Hi mummies! When your baby starts sleeping longer at night/sleeping through the night without needing any night feeding, do you still wake up to pump? If yes, how many times? If no, will the milk supply drop and become insufficient during the day?

yes sure. set alarm to pump ❤️. can cause milk supply drop if not mistaken. Maximum gap 3 hours.
