Doctor’s appointment

I just found out I’m pregnant yesterday, I’m around 2-3 weeks I believe. Just wondering when should I book my first doctor appointment? Should I book one now to confirm my pregnancy or should I wait till around 6 weeks as I read somewhere?? Thank you!! Xx #firstbaby #firsttimemom

next step should be to make an appointment with doctor to confirm pregnancy test results. If u want to be referred to govt hospital as subsidised patient, then go to polyclinic to c doc (if u r local). Start taking folic too.

I am 6wks pregnant. My first gynae appt is this week at KKH

I have gotten a referral from polyclinic to KKH. Now after reading reviews online and hearing from my sister's experience at SGH, I feel like I should have chosen SGH. Does anyone know if I can change my appt to SGH later? #advicepls #firstpregnancy

You can call SGH and request your personal gynae preference. Once appt secured, cancel the appt at KKH. When you go poly they will refer to you at two hospital. For me, was KKH/NUH. Ive choose both for two pregnancy. My second pregnancy I wanted NUH but because they have no slot, I was also having medical issue I was referred again to KKH, they follow up with all appointment. Then I call up NUH to cancel all appointment.

Prenatal checkups

Hi all, can I check how often will the prenatal checkups be? I've just gone for my first one and have booked my next appt in two weeks. Would like to know the freq so that I can somehow anticipate how many leaves I might need to take. Thanks!

Not sure if you’re going via sub or private. I’m under private, First trimester - mid second trimester every 1 month, followed by 2 weekly and week 36 onwards every week once.

Hi went for ultrasound today & doctor can’t find anything through scan. Is this normal at 4 weeks?

Don't worry and stress about it. See the doctor again in a couple or even 3 weeks later. From my personal experience, I panicked and keep probing and seeing doctor. ended up with a miscarriage.

Hi mommies! Any idea where I can get a pelvis ultrasound? I just got my positive & I’m wondering if I could get a blood test & ultrasound before I travel.

You can try walking/calling in to any gynae clinics to see if they have any slots

Monthly appointment cost

Hi mummies. I need to go under Kkh. Does anyone know how much is the costing for monthly appointments?

If you are under subsidy it is about average $100 to $200 depends if you are just having consultation or scan or both.

Food consumption

Hi mummies, in early pregnancy what are the time of food intakes you need to limit? I’m not sure what I can eat and what I can not. Please advise!

Can someone guide me on how pre natal check up works? How many scan will you have through out the pregnancy? Is it monthly or only on certain months?

Pre natal check up will be every 4 weeks (every mth once) until after 36 weeks, it will be changed to 2 weeks till EDD. For NUH/KKH about the same twice/thrice for baby scan/heartbeat. Subsequently will just be Dr's consulation, OGTT, vaccine. I was on subsidy and each child's gap 5 years at the respective hospital mentioned above.

kKh hospital inquiry

Has anyone ever delivered at Kkh? I wanted to check. For all your appointment can it be paid directly by Medisave or you’ll have to come out with cash first and claim it after?#firsttimemom #pleasehelp

All payments are to be paid promptly after each check up. Subsequently you can use the Health Buddy Apps and you make the payment through it. If I correctly remember you can amend amount. However, there are some check up like vaccine only you can pay through medisave. After birth, only then you can claim Pre Natal check up expenses. This will be process and thereafter return by cheque together with whatever necessary. Should let say, you have difficulty to make payment or having issue with financial, you may approach MSW Social Worker) opp MotherCare to seek assistance. They will review the application and get back to you. But, this will only apply to Class C/B2 (6 bedder).
