Ay nako, I feel you, toothache while taking care of a newborn is the worst! Honestly, you should really see a dentist ASAP kasi kung gaano kasakit mo, baka may infection na or kailangan na talaga ng extraction, at hindi dapat i-delay yan especially habang nagbre-breastfeed ka pa. A few of my mum friends had dental work done even while breastfeeding, and the dentist can make sure it's safe para sa baby mo, kailangan mo lang sabihin na nagbre-breastfeed ka. Don't suffer through it na, mama, your health matters din para sa baby!

Tooth extraction while breastfeeding

Hello mga mommies good day po..gusto ko po sana magpabunot ng ngipin kasi needed na tanggalin and masakit na talaga..last year pumunta aq ng denstist at na xray and advice ng dentist since bulok na and wla ng use yung dalawa kong ngipin plus nkakastress na ang sakit andneed na bunutin but since nagpabreastfeeding ako ayaw mag risk ng dentist dahil kawawa c baby...1 week akong d makapag padede ky baby if ever magpabunot ako..1 yr and 2 mos na baby ko but still bf+solid foods na din pro gusto pa rin nya maglatch aftr meal nia...d aq makafocus sometimes dahil sa sakit and umiinom dn aq ng advil para mawala yung sakit..ayoko lng ng araw2 mag take ng advil..ako at husband ko lang din ang nag aalaga ky baby and work din c husband...wla akong helper ever since nagkababy ako kaya mahirap yung situation ko....ano po yung ways ninyo mga mommies nuong nagpabunot kayo while bf ky baby?please needed talaga ng help or advice nyo...

hi mi! Ako din po nagpa bunot last year kasi impacted wisdom tooth ko or nabulok na ganern. Sobrang sakit as in di ako makakilos. Alam din ng dentist na breastfeeding ako pero yun nga into solids naman na si baby so inadvise sa akin na 3 hours after ako bunutan saka mag latch si baby. Same din sa gamot, wag padede agad pag inom ng antibiotic, at least 3hrs muna palipasin saka padede. Unli latch din si LO ko kaya mahirap pero tiis lang talaga at pinapakain ko na lang or water if gusto na nya agad dumede sa akin. Ganyan lang for 1 week then oks na.

Hi mama! Alam ko talaga kung gaano ka-stressful yan, lalo na kang single-handed with work pa. Honestly, ang good news ay karamihan ng dentists ngayon okay lang ang tooth extraction habang nagpapasuso, lalo na kung local anesthetic lang (injection para manhid) ang gagamitin, yung anesthetic na yun ay hindi talaga dumadaan sa breast milk in significant amounts, kaya pwede ka ring magpatuloy ng pag-latch after. A friend of mine actually had two teeth pulled out while breastfeeding her one-year-old, at wala namang problema with baby, she just made sure to pump and dump lang for a couple hours if they used anything stronger, pero sa standard local injection walang kailangan na mag-pause. Since masakit na talaga at umiinom ka na ng Advil araw-araw, mas risky na yun sa baby long-term kaysa controlled extraction under proper anesthesia, kaya go na talaga, mommy. Siguro lang tanungin mo yung dentist mo directly kung anong exact anesthetic at meds ang gagamitin, at kung may doubts siya, better na mag-refer ka sa OB mo para sa peace of mind. You deserve the relief, at maganda rin para sa baby na may healthy, pain-free mama!

Nak, yan ay medical question talaga at importante, please check with your doctor or pediatrician first, lalo na kung may G6PD kayo sa pamilya, kasi iba-iba ang reactions per person. A few of my mum friends with G6PD kids ay very careful sa additives at seasonings, kaya mas safe talagang konsultahin ang doc kung ano exactly ang pwede for your case. Better safe than sorry with these things, no?
