You need to check your flange size, it needs to fit correctly. Too big or small will hurt and also affect output.

Agree as what J said, bad latch. Did you check on baby latch while u are at the hosp? Recently delivered?

Did you check if the latch is correct? If it's the ring of the nipple, it could be a bad latch
