Erythema Toxicum

This was how my baby looked like a day after his birth (7th of June 2024). Unfortunately, the next day, he developed red blotches all over his face called Erythema Toxicum. Dr. Lardizabal, our pediatrician, reassured us that this is a common and harmless baby rash that usually disappears within a week or two. No treatment is necessary. A friendly reminder to all new moms: Newborn skin is incredibly delicate, so avoid using oils or ointments unless specifically recommended by your pediatrician. These products can often irritate sensitive baby skin and worsen conditions like Erythema Toxicum.

Ay, ganyan talaga ang erythema toxicum, nakita ko rin yan sa baby ko at honestly, napakascary ng first-time mom moment na yan! But your pedia is right, it's totally normal and will go away on its own in a week or two, so try not to stress too much. A few of us tried everything thinking we needed to "fix" it, but the best thing we did was just leave baby's skin alone, no oils, no creams, walang labahan ng maingat na products, just plain water lang. Good reminder din talaga about avoiding unnecessary products on newborn skin kasi mas lalo lang atsang halo. Your little one will be fine, mommy!
