baby bed prepare before baby arrive?

Hi all, understand that chinese cannot shift furniture during pregnancy due to some superstitious. But i 1st time baby bed also cant prepare. I was excited to plan to buy baby stuff. But my grandma in law said that we cant buy baby bed/baby drawer etc all this. My qns is where the baby sleep? It will be too danger to sleep on the bed.. any idea?
