Blue veins in first tri?
Today I felt an uncommon tenderness on my left hip near my lower back. Upon closer look I realize that I have blue veins on both sides which I'm never noticed before. Is this normal in early pregnancy? Currently 7.5 weeks.

Oh, I completely understand why that would catch you off guard, but this is actually very common in early pregnancy and you are definitely not alone in noticing it. When I was in my first trimester, I remember seeing those blue veins pop up on my chest, hips, and belly seemingly overnight because your body is pumping so much more blood to support the baby. The tenderness around that area is also really normal as your body starts shifting and adjusting even this early on. That said, if the tenderness feels more intense or you are just worried, it is always okay to check with your gynae or even your polyclinic doctor just for peace of mind, lah.

Pregnancy can make veins look more obvious because of increased blood flow, but if the tenderness is new, getting painful, warm, swollen, or only happening on one side more intensely, I would just mention it to your gynae at your next visit or check earlier if you feel uneasy.
