Tips for first time mum

Congrats and don't worry too much, you will be okay! The main things I'd say are: fast properly the night before (usually 6-8 hours, your hospital will tell you exactly), and after the op, get up and walk as soon as the nurses encourage you to, because it really does help with recovery even though it feels scary at first. Someone in my mum group mentioned that high-waisted postpartum underwear was a lifesaver since regular underwear sits right on the wound and is really uncomfortable, so pack a few pairs in your hospital bag. One honest thing I'll say is that the first time you try to sit up or laugh or sneeze, it will hurt more than you expect, so hug a pillow against your tummy and take the painkillers they offer you, don't try to be brave about it. You will likely stay about 3-4 days in hospital, so just rest, let the nurses help you, and don't rush to do things yourself the moment you feel slightly better.

Hi mum, I remember being super nervous before my first C-section also, so it’s totally normal to feel this way. Try to focus on breathing and just take it step by step, the doctors and nurses will guide you through everything tomorrow. After surgery, the first day might feel a bit uncomfortable when moving, so don’t be afraid to ask for pain relief early and take things slow. Also try to start gentle movement when they advise because it actually helps recovery and reduces gas pain.
