My friend wants us to breast-feed each other's baby? Is that even safe?

Wet nursing has been done since a long way back in history. In the past before the development of formula milk in the 20th century, women who choose not to breastfeed or are unable to, hire a wet nurse to feed and take care of their babies. Although wet nursing may pose risks of HIV but it's still common among many developing countries like China or Philippines and is sometimes viewed as a symbol of wealth and high status. During the 2008 formula milk scam in China, more mothers chose to employ wet nurses than to trust the milk companies. I have done it once with my friend's baby just to show her (and hopefully teach her newborn) how to get a correct latch. It's actually the same as breastmilk donation where the baby also drinks another mother's breastmilk. The only difference is where you are drinking from. Haha. Is there any particular reason for wanting to "exchange" babies? There is a risk of infection for mother and baby in the event of "cross-nursing", which is what your friend is suggesting. For me I am more conservative person as I feel the bonding between myself and baby is a special one. However, I do not mind to donate my milk to her if she needs it for her baby.
