Seeking Advice: Bringing Breastmilk Back from a Business Trip

Hi mummies, I’ll be going on a business trip soon and I’m trying to gather more information. Are there any breastfeeding mums who have experience with bringing breastmilk back from a business trip? How did you manage it?

Totally doable, but there are a few things worth weighing up first! The main route most mums go is freezing the milk and packing it with ice packs, one mum I know managed to bring back almost 3 litres from a 4-day trip that way, all frozen, and it held up fine over a 13-hour door-to-door journey. Just declare it clearly at security when your bag goes through the scanner; from what I've heard, most airports are fine with it as long as you're upfront, though a couple of mums mentioned Japan was stricter than other destinations. One thing to note is that some airports do expect you to have your baby present if you want the milk waved through without the usual liquid limits, so it's worth checking the specific rules for whichever airport you're departing from. For shorter trips it's fairly straightforward, but for longer ones the logistics of keeping everything frozen can get quite involved, so you'd want to plan your cooling carefully.
