Hi mummies! When should a child start to know how to read? My child is in nursery class bt has yet to progress to learn how to read she is only able to recognise words through memorising. And advice how am i able to guide her how to read and blend the words?

Hi, not to worry mummy. My gal is in K1 and only knows how to read now. Every child's learning pace is different and blending words will come when they know phonics well. Otherwise, they can only memorize. I started my gal with simple books from Peter and Jane (repetitive words). Phonics from letterland (Youtube or purchased off shelf). As she knows the alphabet sounds, then we progress to blend some of the words.
